Falling sick while traveling to another country is a real concern for many travelers. To allay those fears, Atlas Travel Health Insurance offers short-term plans that are especially beneficial for those on holidays, business trips, and student exchange or similar programs.
Most of the Atlas international travel insurance plan benefits are medical, and cover a wide range: right from getting to the hospital (ambulance costs), getting treated (outpatient charges) and treatment at the hospital (hospitalization and indemnity benefits). Physical therapy is also covered, as are emergency dental procedures. The plan covers the cost of medical evacuation in case of a life-threatening situation, and on purchase of an additional sports rider, even conditions arising from performing hazardous sports.
Seniors are often uninsured or under insured simply because of the clauses that exclude pre-existing conditions from the plan. If a person under 70 suffers a serious recurrence of a previously existing condition that requires hospitalization, the Atlas international travel insurance plan covers the medical and evacuation costs. Also, if a covered minor will be left alone when the insured is hospitalized, the plan includes the cost of sending the minor home.
Natural disasters and, increasing acts of terrorism and political evacuation are realities for travelers, and the plan covers those as well. The Atlas International insurance plan covers the cost of the insured returning home if the international trip is interrupted due to his/her home being damaged due to a natural disaster. If the insured dies, the plan also pays for repatriation of the remains to the home country.
The plan not just covers travel, but also temporary trips home during the plan period, for up to a maximum of 15 days in 3 months. The Atlas insurance plan eases the transition on return by offering medical coverage for 30 days in the home country.
Other benefits of the travel insurance plan include help with lost baggage or travel documents, and identifying and working with doctors and lawyers if necessary. The insured does not have to worry about payment if the insured is treated by a PPO network doctor or hospital the entire sum is covered (after the deductible).
To be eligible for Atlas International insurance coverage, the applicant must be at least 14 days old. The period of coverage can be anywhere from 5 days to 12 months. Plan holders can perform a variety of tasks through the online client zone, and can also call customer service toll-free from several countries around the world.
Benefits of the Atlas international travel insurance plan range from $50,000 to 1,000,000. The premium varies with the age of the insured, maximum medical coverage and deductible. The addition of the sports rider will increase the premium.
