I recently took a home pregnancy test that came out positive – yeah! I’m excited but also nervous because my current health plan doesn’t include maternity.
So I called the health insurance company and asked what plans were available to women who are already pregnant. I was told there is only one plan which has a $5000 deductible that has to be met before anything is covered. My husband and I can’t afford such a high deductible so I shopped around for maternity plans with other companies.
I found a plan within our price-range and applied online for it. On the application, I did not mention that I am pregnant and I was approved for the plan.
My question is: can this new insurance company drop my coverage once they find out I am pregnant? I estimate that I am 6 weeks along already so I need to see a doctor soon. How should I go about scheduling a doctor visit since I denied my pregnancy to the insurance company but I need prenatal care?
