Resolved Question: Republicans have no alternatives?
HR 3400

http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3400ih.txt.pdf

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3400/show

http://covertheuninsured.org/legislative_bill/hr-3400-price

General Overview
The bill would provide a tax deduction and an income-related refundable tax credit for health insurance purchased by individuals (i.e., outside the group insurance market). The tax credit would be available only to individuals living in states operating a high-risk health insurance pool; and federal grant funding would be provided to states for such pools. Incentives would be given for employers to offer employees the option of a contribution toward other health insurance coverage in lieu of the employer plan. State insurance laws would be overridden to permit the sale of individual health insurance across state lines. Federal rules would be established and application of state laws preempted for insurance provided through association health plans and individual membership associations. Expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) would be prohibited for those with incomes above 300% of the federal poverty level (FPL) and restricted for those between 200% and 300% of FPL. States would be required to offer group coverage and other private coverage options under Medicaid and CHIP. Federal limits on medical liability claims would be established. Medicare physician payment would be modified. The bill would be financed through reduced discretionary spending, repeal of stimulus bill provisions and other provisions.

Open Question: Does Obama want employers to help pay for his universal health care? If so…?
…won’t that raise the premiums that employees have to pay in order to keep their health insurance plans with the privately owned companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Coventry, etc? Obama says that individuals and families will not have to give up their private insurance plans, but that is not entirely true. If employers are required to pay for the universal coverage then they may not have enough revenue left to pay what they need to, to the private insurance companies in order to keep the out of pocket expenses for their employees at a level that the employees can afford. As a result, the employees may have no choice but to go with a government run insurance plan that provides less coverage, does not offer a choice of doctors, and still requires the insured to pay high out of pocket premiums.
During his presidential campaign, Obama said that businesses and employers would not have to pay for the universal health care that he was proposing. However, after he was elected he changed his mind and said that employers and businesses may be required to help pay for the universal health care plan. I have not heard anything else about it since then. Does anyone else have any information about this?
LOL! godavygo, I did not vote for Obama.
Zap, I do not own a gun and I have not joined the mindless Obama followers who only support him because he uses big words when he talks.
Mr. please do your research. Hospitals are in favor of universal health care but NOT the government controlled health care that Obama is pushing. In fact the Mayo Clinic is absolutely oposed to it.
Please pay attenton to the question. It doesn’t matter if the health insurance companies do not raise their premiums. What matters is how much of the private insurance premium an employer can afford to pay. What the employer does not pay, the employee has to pay or they cannot use that privately run health insurance.
Finally, the governemnt run health insurance WILL NOT BE FREE. Duh! People will still have to pay premiums for some services, but we do not know what those premiums will be or what services they will have to pay premiums for. With Liberals, you have to listen for what they don’t say.
Oh, and Mr., your idea that millions contributing to the government run health care will keep the cost low is completely false. That is another lie from Obama. Millions may contribute to it via a tax that Obama refuses to call a tax, :-b (yet another deception from our President), but millions more will be using it, which makes those contributions awash. Also, millions of illegal immigrants will be using the governemt run health insurance, and they will definitely not be contributing to it. Obama will have no choice but to require employers to help fund his Socialist Haelth care Plan.
