Open Question: Where do you fit in regarding universal health care?
As I have lived and received health care in different countries which have universal health care I speak with some knowledge of what it is like.
Since I have also been covered by different HMO’s such as Kaiser, HPN, Scott&White etc and PPO’s here in the sates I have seen the sad comparison of the US health care quality first hand.
I have come to the conclusion that those that support the current system have either sold their allegiance to insurance companies and are thus criminals for knowingly denying medical to millions of Americans including children or they are morons unknowingly following an evil lie; where do you stand?
Some people employ costs as a reason for not going with Universal health care indicating they do not know what it is all about. It actually cost us more in the current system for politicians, government employees, prisoners, military and those too poor to pay do get care from our pockets. Since costs here are astronomical due to insurance companies we already pay more per person than people who get universal coverage.
One other reason employed by some individuals is that the Government can’t run it; this is a different proposal saying that the US Government is incapable of doing what other nations do with ease may have something to do with it.
Open Question: Do people get mistreated by insurance companies because of the free market or because of the HMO Act?
The HMO Act requires that employers with 25 or more employees provide health insurance, thus a *government induced* monopoly
