Open Question: Primary Insurance and Secondary Insurance?
OK – Somebody please explain this to me. My employer has covered me on their health insurance plan. I don’t pay for it. But it sticks I can’t use it since it has a really high deductible and it doesn’t cover necessary annual exams.

So, my husband put me on this insurance and VIOLA – I have no deductible and it covers everything. I know, I’m a lucky person.

Well, I’ve been told that I must show my employers insurance becuase it is my primary insurance and I’m lying if I don’t show it. But then the doc doesn’t want to bill the secondary that will cover everything so I have to pay the bill then submit a claim.

Is there some type of law out there that says I have to disclose this really crappy insurance that my employer provides? Not that I don’t appreciate it – I do – but it’s really only for catastrophic situations.

Resolved Question: Anyone know of/have a good HSA insurance policy?
My husband and I are looking to get our own policy for health insurance. Weighing out how often we and our 2 year old actually go to the doctor, we’ve decided an HSA plan would be better for us. We could save the money we put into our current health plan now which is around $450 a month and use it when we are sick and need a doctor visit. We are mainly concerned with catastrophic mishaps or diseases that may arrise, not everyday illnesses. Any one have a good plan? If so please share who you have the policy with and the amount you pay, also any extras you might want to add would be helpful. Thanks. (Please don’t tell us to google it, we want to hear from people whom use these plans.)

Resolved Question: Republicans are calling for massive deregulation of private health care. Are they fans of recessions?
While still in an economic downturn that resulted from lack of regulation and oversight over wall street, house republicans are proposing to not only apply similarly massive deregulation to private health care firms, but to also take away medicare for anyone under 55 and replace it with a voucher.

Imagine if health care failed in the same massively catastrophic way that wall street failed last fall. These health care firms are run in a very capitalist way, and if they can avoid paying for your care, they will. This is the nature of capitalism and insurance. Anyone who has had to deal with a family member who has suffered a catastrophic injury of some sort (in the $15,000+ range) knows that these guys are at LEAST as greedy as bank CEOs or hedge fund managers.

The difference is, the hedge fund guys will only let your 401k go belly up.
Track P – That’s an argument for the vouchers. How could you possibly argue in favor of deregulating these scumbags?

FriendFeed Can someone link me to or quickly explain here the major bullet point details about the so-called “socialized health care plan” people are getting up in arms about? I ran into a couple discussions about it the last couple days, but wasn’t sure about what the plan actually entails, so I couldn’t properly address what was being said.
