Voting Question: Teen birth control, no parental involvement or pelvic exam?
I’m 16, live in NY, and am in a healthy relationship with my boyfriend of 2 years. I want to (he’s not pushing me at all) have sex, and I have condoms, but we want to be double sure. I’m willing to pay myself for birth control myself, but I can’t put it on our family insurance because it shows up to the primary cardholder (aka my father), so am I required to put down I have insurance or not when I go to the planned parenthood center? I would just talk to my mother, but I’m really afraid of doctors and she’ll make me go to a gynecologist and get a pelvic exam and talk over the “options” – when really, this is an adult, mature decision I have thoroughly thought over and decided upon myself in a safe manner. Getting my social security number from them is not an issue, just the health care part (we have blue cross blue shield – is birth control even covered?) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Resolved Question: How to find affordable health insurance?
I am an international student in the US, and by law I am required to get health insurance while I am in university. I have been buying from Blue Cross Anthem and the price is getting very unreasonable over the years. The price is close to $1500/year. What company do you suggest me to get cheaper insurance from? Something preferably under $1000.

Insurance Broker must certify that all of the following conditions are met:
* Policy must be in English
* All coverage limits must be in US dollars
* Medical benefits of at least $250,000 for each accident or illness
* Full cost of medical evacuation
* Full cost of repatriation of remains
* Coverage for the entire academic year*
* Minimum 75% coverage for each accident or illness
* No capped benefits e.g. $1,200 per day for hospital room
* Maximum deductible of $100 per condition per plan year
* Maximum out-of-pocket expenses $2,500 or less
* * Must cover pre-existing conditions, with a wait period of no more than six months if attending the full academic year

Thanks in advance.

Resolved Question: Health Insurance Question?
I have Blue Cross and Blue Shield and as of last Sept. the deductible went up from $250 to $1,200! I have been having a lot of neck problems and my doctor referred me to Physical Therapy 3 days a week for 4 weeks. I e-mailed my insurance to see how much I would have to pay out of pocket and this is the response I got.

“Yes, PT is a considered benefit on your policy. Benefits in-network is considered @ 100% of the plans allowance once the $1,200 deductible and a $30 copay applies.”

Does this mean that I am responsible for all the cost up to $1,200 ?!
